I received this book from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.

So early January I read the I Don’t Have a Dog book and absolutely adored it! At the end of January I decided it was high time to see if the I Don’t Have a Cat book was also still on Netgalley, I kept forgetting to request it. Thankfully, it was still there and so I could see what kind of things the cat was up to~

In this adorable cute book we meet a tiny little kitty and their owner! The kitty isn’t just a kitty, oh no. They are a space invader (the kid really loved space), they are a food critic (loved how cute the kitty played with the fruit), they are many things and I absolutely laughed my butt off, especially when the cat got in the bag and out at school! Oh my! The cat was such a cutie and dang it made me wish I didn’t have allergies because I definitely would LOVE a kitty at home. One who can do all sorts of fun things along with being a cat.

The ending definitely came out of nowhere! I won’t spoil anything, but I hadn’t expected it to go that way. Now that I look back it makes sense, but for a first time read it was an ending out of the blue. I am glad however that the author didn’t just end it there but made an extra illustration at the end with the dedication and the book information that made me go aww so much.

I loved that the family in the Dog’s book was white and that the one in this book is black! Also whereas the Dog’s book MC has a brother, this boy has a sister! I love those little details.

The art was once again very adorable!

All in all, if you are a cat lover you will adore this book! It will make you smile and laugh. It will make you go aww and squee! I would recommend this one to all!

We don't have a cat - we have an unexpected guest showing up quite often at our back door. Not that we mind.

We are definitely a cat family, so my 3.5yo daughter was happy to see this book on our virtual bookshelf. She could relate to most of the situations even though she was not familiar with concepts like a food critic or a space invader. Maybe this book is better suited for an older kid.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Sasquatch Books for an Advance Review Copy.

'I Don't Have a Cat' follows a young boy, and the adventures he has with a cat.

Much like 'I Don't Have a Dog', I didn't enjoy this story due to it's blandness. I wasn't intrigued or interested, and it was really repetitive. However, although I wouldn't use this in a class setting (unless it's within EYFS). I am sure families and their young children would adore this book.

The illustrations are so childlike, and lovely.
