Gute Nacht, Darth Vader by Jeffrey Brown

I heard a lot about this series of books and I decided to start with Goodnight Darth Vader, sadly it was just not meant to be. What I expected was: Leia + Luke causing trouble in the ship because they don't want to sleep. Insert lots of hilarious situations and a Darth Vader trying his best to be a father. What I got was: Darth Vader putting kids to bed and telling them a super boring story of how everyone is going to sleep. The ending was bland and just sad.
Maybe if I hadn't know what to expect, maybe then I would have appreciated the book, but now I kind of knew what the other books were about and thus this one was the odd one out.

I think the fans of Star Wars might love this one as many of the characters pop up. We see the Wookies, Han Solo, Yoda and various other characters. In the first image they are all awake and in the second one they are all asleep.

The art is decent, but I wouldn't call it good. At times things look strange and out of place.

All in all, I can't rate this higher than a 1. Even though the book is short, I had trouble getting through it. The only reason I pressed on was because I kept hoping that maybe the story would change. Too bad that it didn't do that.

Cute, but lacks the freshness of previous books in series.

This was a really cute variation of Goodnight Moon for little Star Wars fans and their parents.

Delightfully short bedtime book for kids who have parents that are Star Wars nerds.

Some clunky rhymes, maybe not entirely appropriate for wee little ones. It's a cute idea though and I really like the illustration style.

Jeffrey Brown almost convinces me that the most menacing machine/man in the galaxy could have actually been a good father if given the chance.

I love Jeffrey Brown and will devour every Star Wars book that he creates because IT IS SO GOOD!!! This book is truly meant for kids especially when you are tucking your kids at night. In this book, every sentence rhymes and tells you the different characters of Star Wars and how they all fall to sleep.

It was so cute and enjoyed it simply for the illustrations. I love how he draws the Star Wars characters and find it pleasurable to enjoy and take my mind off of things for a estimated 10-15 minutes. This book doesn't take much to comprehend and like I said in all my post, this book is to introduce younger generations to Star Wars and the magnificent saga it has become in our pop culture. I was at Barnes & Noble today and saw the cover of the book and immediately read it on the spot. I cannot wait for Jedi Academy part 2 to come out even though I saw the book in plain view at the store today whereas everything else is still on "preorder".

All of these Star Wars books by Jeffrey Brown are super cute and well drawn. They aren't super funny but they did make me smile a lot.

Probably best given as gifts for the Star Wars fan that has everything!
