Solid urban fantasy novel. I loved the spin that having Greek mythology in the story provided. It gave things an interesting flair that isn't usually present in fantasy. Also, the witches (yes there are witches, no that's not really a spoiler) were fascinating. Their magic, it's rules and uses just sucked me in and had me.l wanting more. The main character, Lionel, has an interesting back story that's revealed to the reader at the same time it's revealed to him. I loved that as it made me invested in the character and discovering what really happened. His character arc felt real and I saw him more like a real person with flaws and desires and a past with history and mistakes. I also really like Maddie ... I couldn't figure her out at first but when her backstory was revealed it was quite the shock for me. There were several twists in the book, a few I predicted, a few that I guessed and one that took me completely by surprise. There is a bit of romance in the tale but not too much and I greatly appreciated that as I prefer the romance to be in the background. Overall, I enjoyed my reading experience very much and the story surpassed all my expectations (I didn't really have any as I had found it on my Kindle when searching for my next read on KU). Highly recommend if you like urban fantasy, flawed characters and magic.
