I did that thing again, where I read something and then take forever to rate it, so I can't actually remember what I loved anymore. But I know I loved it! So there you go.

I did not expect to love this book as much as I did. It had me laughing and smiling every chapter. I loved the characters and narrator (I listened on audiobook while also reading along), and loved every second of it.

I find it hard to believe three authors wrote this considering how fluid and well done it is, and I’m so happy to own My Plain Jane and get to it by the end of the month.
A perfect book for some fantasy, comedy, and romance.

Oh my days, sheer genius. Well written, brilliantly crafted and one to definitely buy in paperback. This will become a modern classic and one I will read over and over again. Brilliant!

My Lady Jane was such a fun book that was self-aware and different from anything I've read before. I don't usually read books that are as light-hearted as this one, but it was definitely refreshing if you're in the mood to read something that will make you smile.

The 3 main characters were all very vivid and engaging, and Jane has become one of my new favorite female characters with her wit and love for books. The romance was also very entertaining and sweet, as it felt very natural and was hate-to-love.

I'm very glad I picked this book up, and I'm excited to read more from these authors in the future.

This book was just pure fun!

A highly entertaining alternate history with loveable and amusing characters, a snarky narrator, and so many shenanigans! I smiled and laughed so much throughout this story and absolutely prefer it to the actual true history that inspired it.

Oh, and I highly recommend listening to this one audio book. Absolutely phenomenal narrator!

“Edward couldn’t imagine his cousin Jane with a husband and a child, even though she was sixteen years old and sixteen was a bit spinsterish, by the standards of the day.”

Imagine Monty Python + Ladyhawke + Lady Jane Grey Historical Fiction.
Having trouble? Don't worry. My Lady Jane will make it obvious.

As other reviewers have mentioned, this odd combination shouldn't work ... yet somehow does. Magically, in fact. It's a fun light-hearted book that doesn't take itself seriously. The reader is whisked away on a semi-factual romp around 1550's England where Protestants and Catholics have been replaced by those with the magical ability to change into animals and those who hate the first group so much they want to burn them at the stake. Yup. You read that right. Add in King Edward VI, Bloody Mary, Elizabeth I, Mary Queen of Scots, King Henry of France, and of course Lady Jane Grey and the Dudley family for an all around fun time, including horse jokes.

Reading this book is like eating marshmallows: it's a fluffy sugar high of happieness.
