Summary: This is a book about lines, and how we can see them in the world around us. The lines are raised for a tactile reading experience. Each page shows different styles of lines such as zigzag, curling, and bending. After giving the reader many examples of how we see lines every day, the reader is encouraged to go out and find their own lines that aren’t in the book.

Evaluation: This book is very colorful and fun. It can be used in all elementary grades to get students engaged in whatever lesson you want to pair it with. They will not only want to see the pictures, but also touch the lines in each picture. This book can appeal to visual and tactile learners. It’s difficult to pick just one favorite page, because they are all so creative.

Teaching Idea: This would be a great book to get creativity flowing, especially for those that often feel like they get stuck when they are asked to be creative. Also, this book could be used during a math unit about lines. After reading the book aloud to the class, students could record lines that they find in their math journals. Then, you could have small group and class discussions about students’ findings.

I used this book to introduce the topic of lines for a lesson with second and third graders. It's a great book that expanded the children's line vocabulary. The children enjoyed the graphics and liked that there was a tactile element to the book. (The line is raised and children can follow it with their hands). It was hard for the children to read it on their own since the words used cursive and the children are not familiar with the letters in cursive yet.

This would be a very good book for a one on one storytime with a child. I like that it's interactive.
