Wow this was an AMAZING listen. First, Viola Davis reading her own memoir is a performance to behold. She tells a story in way that you can’t stop listening. And the story she tells is written perfectly. Timing, pacing, characters - it’s all very well done. Plus, what she went through in her childhood needs to be understood by the general population because it is not all that uncommon, especially for those in extreme poverty like her family was. As you listen to her story, you can’t help falling in love with her more and more as the book goes on. I’m a super fan of this woman for sure now. She is an impressive force to be reckoned with and is changing the world with the talent and voice she has. This story of her life is a gift to all of us. I’m glad she shared it.
