Nice surprising read, now and then it's nice to read about history especially when it's set in the area you live! Set in early 1900's it tells the story of pearl and the ups and downs of her life, I don't want to spoil it so that's all I'll say but good book.

I enjoyed the story. It was slow in parts and hard to get through, but most of the book was good with drama and suspense throughout. Pearl fit the role of strong female character who overcomes the horrors and tragedies that face her in life. It was a decent read and with some small exceptions where it was slower. I'd recommend it to others.
