Book is extremely slow and SO HARD to get into, about halfway through it starts picking up and finally getting good. The last quarter or so is absolutely amazing! You seriously would not see it coming and it makes for the perfect first book, if there was a sequels I feel like it would play off really well.

The setting is in North Carolina up in the Mountains were tourist come to hike the trails, but sometimes they don't return......
The main Character in this Novel is Abby and she works at her aunts Inn and has for the past 10 years sense her mother passed aways from cancer and she had nowhere else to go. Cutter’s Pass the name of the town has always kept her just a little bit on the outside as they do with people who are not from there. It is a very close-knit town, with people who have lived there forever and they protect their own with a fierce loyalty. But 25 years ago, 4 young men went hiking and they didn't come back, and sense then 3 other people have gone missing after going out in the trials never to be seen again. Intill the brother of one of the one of the recent victims comes to the Inn to try to get some answers about what really happened to his bother out there. I really enjoyed the setting of this story; it had a great small-town Forrest feels like almost how I picture Virgin River type of town. Abby was likeable and lots of Character growth in this story I feel like in the start of the story she is just kind of surfing through life and by the end she really comes into her own and learns a lot about herself as well. The other characters, where good as well, Corey giving us is he a good or bad guy feeling till the very end. The other receptionist who works at the Inn, who kind of just came out of nowhere and left out of nowhere. Harris the likeable Phone guy, who helps out with the mysterious phone lines going down and his likeable and friendly wife. Celeste The aunt who took in Abby and gave her a new life. and everyone in the town what are they not telling, and who are they protecting. The Twist was really good in this thriller too, I did not guess it and had my self-guessing the whole way till the end and I didn’t want to put it down till I finished it! The writing was beautiful and I felt like I was really in Cutter’s Pass. Thank you net gally Simon & Schuster Canada for a free copy of this eBook for a review.

Very little action but decent twist at the end. I missed a lot of the audio but was able to piece things together

In the picturesque town of Cutter’s Pass, Abigail Lovett manages The Passage Inn, a charming resort surrounded by the beauty of the North Carolina mountains. The town is known for its outdoor activities and mysterious past, including a series of unsolved disappearances. The story takes a dark turn when journalist Landon West, investigating the vanishing trail, goes missing. As his brother Trey seeks answers, Abby uncovers incriminating evidence, revealing hidden truths about her coworkers, neighbors, and friends. In her quest for the truth, Abby realizes she knows far less about the people around her than she thought.

I was captivated by the intriguing concept of this story, set in a mysterious and secluded location that exudes a dark and isolated atmosphere. The town's enigmatic history intertwined with a series of disappearances added depth to the plot. Miranda's descriptive writing painted a vivid picture, making it easy to immerse myself in the story's world.

The gripping narrative compelled me to race towards the end, eager to uncover the truth and validate my theories. This was my first experience with Megan Miranda's work, and I'm looking forward to exploring more of her books in the future.
