I really really love this anthology series. It made me laugh, it made me cry (mostly cry) but it's so cathartic reading a queer story set in my very homophobic country. This book makes me feel less alone and highlights the gay culture most Nigerians will pretend doesn't exist. My only problem with it is the lack of trigger warnings cos there's a lot to be triggered by and I really wish there was a warning before I read the very graphic sexual assault scene.

But all in all, this is a great book and I can't wait to read many more queer Nigerian stories.

This is so hard to review because it was a book of two halves. I found the first stories tiresome and difficult to get through and I was considering putting it down. I’m so so glad I didn’t. The last few stories were immaculately written and cycled through all of the human emotions from love to loss, relationships to loneliness and happiness to grief. Some of these short stories are without a doubt 5 star reviews but as a whole collection, the first 5 or so stories were not my favourite.
