I found the afterword much more interesting than the actual book tbh… it added some important historical context about the beat generation which added to the depth of the story, at least for me. the history behind the creation of this manuscript was also interesting to read about.
tldr; I’d recommend the afterword and nothing else lol

it's not exactly going to win any literary awards (it's a bit shit) but i liked it.
the writing is very basic but you have to remember this is typed up exactly as kerouac and burroughs wrote it down how-ever-long-ago.
the afterword is gossipy and a bit shit but ah-well—
