I Hated it. Please note the capital H.

I promised myself that after the third novel I was done with this series due to the repetitive plot and lack of character developement. Unfortunately, due to my total lack of book-willpower, I ended up giving 'Captivated by You' a chance.

Essentially the repetition and lacking plot and character development that I so hated in earlier novels just continued into this novel, making for a highly frustrating and actually, a really boring read. Eva and Gideon are either fighting or fu- funning around but with no end result. Their arguements didn't clear the air, they just temporarily bandaged the wound until it could be bought up for a bit of drama again later on.

Why was Brett still a problem? The whole situation was so hypocritical and flat. Eva found him attractive, she had unresolved issues with him, she kept texting him and calling him and meeting up with him, then acted like Gideon had nothing to worry about and that there was no problem. Chapter to chapter her opinion about her relationship with Brett changed until it seemed that even she didn't know whether she was in love with him or Gideon - fantastic and romantic for some newly-weds! The whole 'plot-point' was so frustrating to read.

Another aspect that I hated was Gideon's narrative, which was so incredibly flat. All of his thoughts were about how attactive Eva was, and how much he wanted to screw her. There was no other insight into him as a character, there were no deep inner thoughts that showed us the man the Eva had been idolising in previous books. Everything was about sex and lust with Gideon, and again that infuriated me. There was just no substance to him as a character and as our leading man.

The whole book was like some grotesque parody of a romance novel, with so little plot and progression that I was bored from start to finish. I am sticking with my promise this time. No more Gideon and Eva.

A fantastic addition to the Crossfire series. I really loved the dual POV and getting perspective from Gideon finally. Gideon and Eva are one of the best couples in romance, and that's what has allowed enough material for the books. It makes me anxious and a little sad for the final book.
