this is technically a reread, as i read the comics before the show came out, and it’s just as enjoyable as before. it does have some moments that i raised my eyebrows at (the equation of witches with black people popped up, my least favorite trope, along with some possible misogyny with madam satan’s character) but i enjoyed myself.

if i listed every trigger warning, we’d be here all day, so you should definitely search those up. mainly it’s gore, body horror, cannibalism, and blood.

Listen, I understand that Sacasa's whole deal is putting beloved teenage characters in dark, gritty settings with lots of gratuitous violence, gore, shots of nude women, and be very focused on teenage sexuality... and Chilling Adventures does pull off the 60s Satanic Panic horror genre that it aims to emulate with a unique art style that would be striking if the plot of the novel didn't feel like I constantly had someone in my face going "OOO Isn't this so EDGY! It's soooo EDGY!!" ... but couldn't he also make it GOOD?

This was really interesting and darker than I expected. I did enjoy it but I do think there was too many words and stuff for a graphic novel(but I’m probably just lazy).
