Pretty incredible book, one of Nietzsche's best. It makes you question the origins of all your instincts and drives. Although it is about the development of society, the book is best read when analogising what Nietzsche is saying to the development of your self.

Seeehr schwer. Seeehr einsichtsreich.
Die ersten beiden Kapitel sind mMn viel interessanter als das letzte.

Nietzsche is a pompous annoyance and after reading 3 of his other books in a row I just couldn't go any further

Reading Nietzsche is simultaneously easy and difficult. Easy, because he's fun and witty, often insults people he doesn't like and doesn't give a shit about dissing other philosophers. He called this style "aphoristic." But reading him is also difficult, because he's basically refuting everything you've ever been taught about the world. Either way, Nietzsche is an incredible, worthwhile experience.
