Wow. That was intense. A ride through the life of a senior boy whose father has taken off and run, taking money from hundreds of his loyal employees and investors. Now Owen Foster is in a town which hasn't been home for years, surrounded by people who hate his father and him by extension. One day, while running, Owen stumbles upon a pecan orchard, run by Gus Trudeau, the older owner, with secrets of his own. Owen finds a sanctuary here, but his life is anything but easy. His family is threatened, his father wants to meet him, and nothing is as it seems.

I loved the amazing twists near the end. This was such a great book. A really fast read.

I enjoyed the story. The narrator was absolutely awful though. Keep that in mind when choosing between the audiobook or standard book. It distracted from the story.

I expected this to be a standard young adult mystery book full of hip names and cliches. But instead I was lost in a beautifully written character driven story. The mystery was interesting, but the intrigue lies completely within the characters themselves.

Elston knows hot to write YAs. She truly gets teenager relationships and use it to her advantage.

I enjoyed this book and was positively surprised by some of the twists (funny how when you want to believe something you ignore all opposing evidence and god oh god did this book play the trick on me)

Solid story although the resolution felt a bit off and personally I don't really care about male bonds. I love "this is our story" and while this book isn't as good (imho) it does hold up.

So good! Was not expecting the twists this book had. I'm usually good at predicting things, but this book had me surprised.
