Once a year a path appears, the same path that swallowed up poor Lucy Gallows who now calls out for others to walk the path and save her. It's been a year since Sara's sister Becca disappeared; high school and the rest of the world have returned to normal thinking Becca is just a runaway. But Sara knows different, Becca went down the vanishing path to save Lucy and didn't come back out. This year a mysterious text message is sent out encouraging Sara and Becca's old friends to 'play the game' and find Lucy Gallows and maybe even save Becca. Regardless of the fact that none of them have spoken with Sara in a year they still show up and decide to play the game. The rules for vanishing are simple they must follow the road to the end and come out the other side. But one things for sure none of them will ever be the same. Written in the style of a documentary searching for the truth this book will haunt you till the very end.

This book blew my mind and give me the chills. It's a thriller and a ghost story at its core with elements of horror thrown in. The dynamics (and diversity) of the characters are varied and engaging. The style in which it's written keeps you on your toes and honestly you never know what's coming which adds to the level of scare it has. I would not read this book at night or leave it in your bedroom unattended. It's absolutely perfect for someone looking for a terrifying thriller or ghost story.

What the heck! My mind was mush by the end. (In a good way!) I finished an ARC of this book yesterday and it was a complete and total ride. The storytelling style and bending of genre norms through transcriptions of interviews and found footage created an unease that was really effective for the mood of the book. The idea of it being based around an urban legend was fantastic and it is what kept me reading. I think that this would be a perfect Halloween read when it comes out.

This book was everything. If you want a Y/A thriller that has a creepy atmosphere and interesting plot line then this one is for you! Sometimes it was a little confusing to pick out who was who especially in the beginning but once you push that aside the story is so disturbing and just pulls you in instantly. Highly recommend.

Somewhere between 3.5 and 4 stars. What a trippy book….so engrossing but that ending was so confusing without a clear resolution…I least I think. I’m assuming her newest book will answer the open questions that weren’t answered at the end.

I literally had to listen twice the ending and I still can't understand what the heck that was. The story was interesting, I was def invested and I have no clue why it's not a four stars but well... This is how I feel. Great start tho!
