She spent all book trying to save Jeff, but as soon as he was a vampire it was reason enough to burn him alive with the others. It doesn't make sense.

This book wasn't too bad. It was interesting that we got to see more than just the typical shifters and vampires. We also got to see a little more of the side characters in this book.

Pedophiliac vampires , geez this was a very disturbing book. It was like taking the worse human being on the planet (a pedophile) and then adding on the fact that they are hard to kill and live on blood. Depressing. I still don't understands Anita's preference of Richard over J.C. even though she is softening up. Laurell K. Hamilton continues to make vampires utterly terrifying and heartless. Onto book #6.

She’s going to end up crossing paths with some evil characters in this book. She’ll need Jean-Claude’s help along the way, and he ends up coming to stay with her. Anita will meet Seraphina, who is obsessed with having Anita Blake. She’ll do something entirely evil to gain Anita’s trust. Anita will find out that there are still vampires out that are more immoral. Be prepared for twists and turns in this book.

One of the biggest reasons this book was not my favorite was how certain characters handled themselves. There was also the issue at the ending of the book with Seraphina and Magnus. (I don’t want to give too much away for readers that haven’t read this book yet.) Although I did like how Anita took care of the villains in the end. It took her a while. She became a target to supernatural beings, though after what she did at the end. Overall, this book may not be my favorite, but I still enjoyed reading it. It was refreshing to meet other characters, human and supernatural that are evil in there is own way. Anita knows she has to battle more than vampires and shifters after this book.

3.5 - I love that we get more Larry cause my child right there. And also we get to see that Anita has the hots for JC but it was somewhat lackluster for me.

Anita should change her name to "Ma Petite" because I love the way Jean Claude says it on the audio version.

I should be ashamed to admit that I'm reading Anita Blake for the sex...except I haven't gotten even a hint of it. Not from Richard, not from Prince, I mean Jean Claude. Even without it, the story was still good.
Anita's greedy boss sent her out on a job to raise a whole graveyard. When Anita and her understudy Larry got to Branson, Missouri, it was clear a lot of supernatural things were involved...and a lot of secrets Anita wasn't privy to. So Anita asks for help from the man she claims to hate Jean Claude, the vampire master.
We find out a nursery boogle is at the heart of the conflict. Everyone wishes to wield the power. We also find a vampire more powerful than Jean Claude wants a piece of the action. I normally don't like fae, but it worked in this book. They didn't overpower the vampires. The supernatural creatures were well balanced. The story was compelling and Anita was still bad ass.
I will continue with these series as I enjoyed this book more than the previous book.

Many confusing, not well thought out scenes, but one of the better Anita Blake books so far.
The more she says she‘s losing her sanity, the more she gets bearable. So my best guess is two more books and I will enjoy them entirely?

As always, I loved being back in Anita's world. These books are so fun, and just what I needed to get me out of a reading slump! My only issue with this one was the ending. I found it much too convenient and easily resolved. I mean, no uber-powerful master vampire so worried about dying would allow Anita to sleep in her coffin (without bolting the lid, at any rate), which basically allows Anita to kill her while she's utterly helpless. Other than that, though, this was another fun romp through the supernatural realm.

I liked how she chose some little known (to me) mythology to include in this one. Thank goodness for Wiki pages. :) Anita is changing in the books...she has no problem killing people (vampires or humans) who need killing...and while understandable, I'm a little concerned where this will eventually lead her. Still a good series, though.
