Drangonquest is part of a series the author (a woman) started in the 1960s. Certainly has some (not off putting tho) old school issues.
Reading this series as a romance fan is a GD delight. Future other world sci fi with dragons, politics, class differences, a little bit of (closed door) romance, bad ass women.

Dick Hill, the narrator, acts his ass off.

First time delving into the world of Pern for me. This second book was much better than Dragonflight. It didn't feel as disjointed. The world and characters are more developed.
There were little dragons! I think some parts were slow and a little too much tell and not show, but every time I thought, maybe I don't wanna read more of Pern, it would pick up in pace and have something interesting happen.
F'lar and Lessa are probably my least favorite characters which is why I think I struggle at some points. But by the end I feel like the series is worth continuing for me.
Was it a great read? No.
Were there some eye roll moments? Yes
But also dragons and political intrigue.
