If you see this, no you didn't.
This is a dark romance I can get behind. The authors notes made me want to read it because she gave a fair and real warning before the book. The characters were so loveable. I loved the dynamic of a sadist and a masochist. I enjoyed the fact that both men were cruel in a different way. Jayden was cold and distant. Cole was loving but imo more dangerous. The fact that I caught myself liking Cole more made his way of torture so much worse than Jay because at least with Jay you know exactly what you're getting. All the scenes I'd normally find messed up in other books, were done beautifully in this one. This book proves it's not the kinks that made me judge and dislike these books but the writing instead. This author did a perfect job at writing dark scenes but making you enjoy it without thinking about anything sick and disturbing. The characters were bad but they weren't evil, you see that when you learn their motivations behind certain actions. That makes me love the authors writing more - She gave them dimension and reason other than just lust. SPOILER: The sage incident for example - We thought what he was doing to Sage was sick but she did worse. I thought the drugging and making her withdraw was evil but he was giving her a fighting chance... Even after what she did. I read this in less than 24 hrs and didn't want to put it down.

True Stockholm syndrome

Cole and Jayden are two pitch black perfectly unhinged men. Would have liked more of their back story but that doesn't take away from the book. I loved that Mary Jo never gave up fighting or trying to escape. And that she never lost her fire.
This is a book and an author I will always recommend.
