An amazing book, and I don't care if I'm biased. Any book where the story told is either narrated by a cat, or where a chapter focuses on a cat, count me a fan. I love cats and I always will.

The central character is a cat, initially with no name! Rescued as a stray with a broken leg, he is named Nana and the tale is told mainly from their point of view along with their owner, Satoru. The story is a meandering tale but not one that you will forgot in a hurry. 4 long chapters, and a bit more, tells of the good times and bad, of school friendships and familial relationships in the face of loss and ultimately the parting of ways.
While cats are central to the story, you do not need to be a pet lover to enjoy it. I would love to have a “fur baby” but for lots of reasons do not and I loved every single page of this novel. Warning, you might need a box of tissues with this read.
