My physical therapist recommended this to me 2 years ago, & he's since been on a kick of thrillers translated into English.

"I’ve made it a point of honor to live with no regard for common sense."

One language or another, you can tell when something is written by an old white guy...

“You’re just lucky that I detest violence,” said Dante. “And that I left my baseball bat at home.”

I was intrigued by the mystery, & the plot was mostly fast-paced with a few lulls. The text alternates interchangeably between the two POV characters which can be confusing at times. At one point, we had both of their POVs in the same sentence.

“What you do isn’t boring.” “If winding up in the hospital is the price you pay for interesting work, then long live boredom.”

The one POV MC is severely claustrophobic, I am unclear how factually this was conveyed, or just done in a way that convenienced the author. I have never heard of someone experiencing their phobia this way, but that doesn't mean that it's impossible...

"The truth is whatever their parents approve. Lies are whatever make them unhappy."

I highly recommend reviewing the TW/CW. Warning: huge spoilers
The villian kidnaps, isolates, & abuses children for years before killing them. He is doing it now to try & test a cure for Autism.
