This book made me giggle and I don't think it was supposed to. Both Giulia and Cassio are super aware that they are not well-suited for each other. Their age difference, their personalities, their outlook on life. Giulia was prepared to marry a man her age who, in her own words, was "a quiet, shy boy she could've held her ground against." And boy, she did not lose that mindset even when faced with Cassio. She never let him get away with treating her as anything other than an equal partner. Even when he didn't trust her, she supported him through it and built a good marriage despite their turbulent beginnings.

Sweet Temptation is the first mafia romance I've read. It was okay! I enjoyed it overall, but it is difficult for me to love a book if I dislike one of the main characters. Cassio was very difficult for me to like...he turned me off to reading more mafia romances in the future.

I LOVED Giulia, however. The poor girl is so young and thrown into a marriage with Cassio, and I want soooo much better for her. I love how she doesn't let Cassio push her around. Despite her circumstances, she is full of hope and brings the family together. I don't think Giulia has any obligation to do this at all, but I love how she fights to make it work on her terms, in a way that makes her happy. Giulia refuses to put her character or hobbies aside to submit to the expectations forced upon her.

Cassio has so much potential to be hot and dreamy but he ruins it by being misogynistic and lacking personality. The way he treats the dog REALLY bothers me and makes him super gross in my eyes. I understand that in his role as a mafia guy he needs to be tough and intimidating, but he can be those things while also being compassionate and romantic. This man really doesn't have a romantic bone in his body in this ROMANCE book. His most romantic line in the book are "Why would I cheat with any of those women? All I can think about is you." which is setting the bar low in my opinion. An honorable mention goes out to "There's nothing I hate about you". I like my book boyfriends a little grumpy and closed off sometimes, but there needs to be a tender side, and Cassio's is lacking. Cassio's redeeming quality is that he is protective over Giulia and his children, but that's not enough for me to swoon over him.

Giulia's relationship with children is very sweet, but I feel like the romance takes a backseat to the development of the family. There is a heavy focus on the children and that's not what I came here for. Giulia and Cassio's relationship is also lacking chemistry. They do fall in love, but they just don't feel right together.

Giving this book 3 stars because while I didn't love it, I didn't hate it either. It was a quick and easy read and I love Giulia.

That little girl is a child! I don't want see you sniffing around her anymore this afternoon, do you understand?
Boy, have you lost your mind, cause I'll help you find it! Whatcha looking for, ain't nobody gonna help you out there, Jesus could come through that door, he's not going to help you, if you don't stop sniffing after my child!

Nope. When he starts saying that a wife's duty is to raise children, you've lost me. And he just is disrespectful toward her because of her age, I felt disturbed.

"It was easy as that. Whenever I looked at the photo of Giulia and our little family that I carried in my wallet, one overwhelming feeling filled me: happiness."

This is the first book of Cora Reilly I have read and it did not disappoint. I am loving the mafia stories at the moment, I just love the passion that they seem to portray.

This story follows Giulia and Casio. It has been written in both of their POV (which I love). Casio needs a wife and a mother for his children after his current wife dies. His people say for him to marry the Baltimore’s under bosses daughter, as this would be a good move for Casio and for Felix. However, Felix’s daughter, Giulia is only 17, and won’t be 18 for a few more months. Casio is 31, could he really marry someone so young?

Giulia was set to marry a captain but after he died in a battle, she is now available. Giulia isn’t convinced about marrying a 31 year old man who is known as the cruelest underboss around. Could Felix, Giulia’s father really promise her hand to Casio? Especially when he knows who Casio is? Plus what happened to Casio’s wife? Could that happen to Giulia? Giulia is very outspoken and isn’t very obedient, not really the type for a made man who wants to control his women. Could she tame her smart mouth and do as she is told?

This book is relatable in someways which I love, obviously it isn’t relatable with the deaths and the mafia side of things, but the relationships between the characters and how they mature throughout the book is relatable and something that would happen in real life. I enjoy books like this. The ones where it’s not a complete ‘fairy tale’. I find them much more appealing.
