These were delightful vignettes that I thought beautifully captured queer relationships. The beginning had me slightly confused as to where it was going, but I found my way and it was a treat. Don't know how much lasting impact this made on me, but it did bring a smile to my face :)

This was wonderful! Quiet and peculiar, queer and honest. Intimate.
I read a library copy but I think I have to buy it for myself.

words read like prose poetry directing you from idea to idea at first, then introducing relationships without really knowing the people in them. An intimate look into human flaws and love and relationships that dives in and out of a fantasy world and invites you in like it’s all natural. Got my library card today and devoured this before I even left.

Another indie comic where I’m left here feeling morose after finishing and like I didn’t really get it.

Sex Fantasy is snapshot glimpses at relationships and connection. Foster-Dimino finds universality in mundane moments, depth in simplicity.

When I found out "Sex Fantasy" is a book collecting a bunch of zines, everything made a lot more sense. The first couple of chapters seem to have no real theme other than interesting, aesthetically pleasing art (which was nice to look at, but didn't hold much substance on its own). Around the third or fourth chapter the art organized into coherent short stories, but not all of them clicked with me - they all explore different relationships between people, including new love and pitfalls in romances and sexual curiosity. But even when the stories were coherent, I didn't really feel like I knew enough about the characters to get attached. Again, this makes more sense looking at the book as a collection of zines, but it still felt weird.

Overall, this is a lovely book (the cover art is beautiful and it's well-bound and presented), but the art doesn't hold much narrative substance. It feels like something that you're supposed to look at and admire for its beauty, not something you're actually supposed to read.

This book is hard to describe but I'll try. I LOVE the art style. The simple line art is beautiful and captures so much emotion and depth. For some of the single pictures, I found myself imagining entire stories around them. The magic of this book is in the mysterious emotional rawness of the stories. I don't know how to describe it, but it's beautiful. The surrealism and unexpected turns were right up my alley and the only con is that I wish there was more! Probably not an all time favorite, but it's perfect so I have to rate it 5 stars : )

(have since moved it to 4.5 just because it didn't stay with me like my qualifications for a 5 star book would)
