Most Japanese translations I read feel a little stilted, this was no exception. Interesting concept, and quite a sweet book, but not quite elevated to a higher level

One reviewer put a reason why the don’t like it, is that it feels like a play. But you know what yes that’s what it feels like and it’s perfect that way. It’s a short story collection that takes place in one setting. It’s almost as if you are a fly on the wall in this little Tokyo café, getting to know the people and what their stories are all about.

I did really enjoy the concept of this book and found the mechanics of the cafe interesting.

I think the only downside for me is that I did not click with the writing style - I'm not sure if that is due to how it has been translated or just the original writing style.
