I am reviewing this from my own kindle copy.

After book one I could not wait to dive into this one. Benella is now a captive of the beast albeit not a very willing one. She denies him at every opportunity and dares him with her every breath. I'm not a big fan of renditions of fairy tales but this one is darkly erotic and captures such vivid imagery that it's insane not to follow it. Benella is such a perfect character, and so heroic. Even in her man pants, and scandalous ways, she manages to capture our hearts and imaginations. Five stars of entertainment.

Ugh, I just can’t with this book. Four chapters in and rape is already being used as a plot device/ excuse for the Beast’s shitty behaviour.

Can we have an erotic retelling without the constant threat of sexual assault? I find it unnecessary and lazy on the authors part. Is there no other possible conflict that could have been introduced?

Also, the Beast’s logic behind why he wants to perve on a naked Benella all day doesn’t even make sense.

I won’t be continuing this book or the series. I’ve got too much on my tbr to bother with something I’m not enjoying.

⚠️non consent/sexual assault

Didn't enjoy this one as much as the first book. I needed Benella and Alec to spend more time together to explain her growing admiration. As it stands it felt a little off. Also, WTF is that dark cliffhanger? Immediately proceeding on to book three.
