The book is entertaining but I wouldn’t say its good or great. I have mixed feelings about the writing and certain plot lines (ex. the repetition about Celeana and Dorian’s beauty). At the same time, I liked some of the world-building and the friendship between Celeana and Nehemia.

Of course it's amazing. Honestly knew it would be, I got into the story immediately. The writing's great, the plots great, the characters are sooo loveable - obviously just a few of them. I'm looking forward to reading the following books. Also I regret not starting the series by reading tog - I read the assassin's blade first - and I think I'm bound to miss out on a lot of suspense having read the prequel as the first book.
I'm however quite sad about how she ends things with Dorian at the end of the book, but on the other hand I'd be thrilled by a chaol - Celeana love story

Enjoyed Celaena's story. Lots of references from AB. I wish there was more from the tests and I hope some things get explained more later.

It’s been a while since I’ve read a piece of fantasy like this, so maybe this factors in, but I found it hard to suspend my disbelief throughout this book. Hopeful for more world-building in the next book of the series, excited to learn more of the background information. Some of the tropes were boring and much of the book was predictable. Depends on what you’re looking for in a read, definitely a fun mindless escape with an interesting premise.

Honestly, I wasn't sure how I was going to feel rereading this book for the first time in seven years, but it did not disappoint. It's been long enough since my last read that I had forgotten enough to be surprised by a majority of the many twists and turns.

I'm starting this series re-read because the last time I read the Throne of Glass series Tower of Dawn was just about to come out, so the farthest I've ever made it is the end of Empire of Storms. We'll see how well the rest of the series holds up after seven years!
