I wondered why, if Poe wrote three short stories that essentially invented detective fiction, do only two of them appear in his most well-known collection? After hunting down the neglected second story, I now see why. This is not so much a story as it is an intentionally thinly veiled true crime analysis, and it is written in an incredibly tiresome style. As prose, it has far more in common with the Greek philosophers than the penny dreadfuls. Still, in reading these stories, I am gaining a much deeper appreciation for and understanding of the works they inspired.

Mein Hörbuch hatte so konstruierte Sätze, dass ich mir das Buch geholt habe und das fertig gelesen habe. Ging um einiges schneller.

Read for school. One of the drier Poe stories I have read, I don't think I would have ever picked it up if it were not for this class. I also really agree with the person who read the audiobook version I listened to that I wish it was not pegged on someone of a darker skin tone.
