This was a tough to rate because I found the first half to be really entertaining - fast-paced, interesting, twisty - but hated, hated, hated the last quarter or so, especially the ending. I can't think of another book that I was so engaged in and read so quickly and ended up disliking so much in the end. After I finished, I talked to some people and read a lot of reviews and there seems to be a pretty good split between "love the ending" and "hate the ending." At the very least, when I was done, I immediately wanted to talk to someone about it. I suppose there's some value in that.

i watched the movie first and loved it but this book was next level. i really enjoyed the book much more, mainly bc i got to see how terrible Nick actually is compared to Ben Affleck playing Nick. I also liked the little stories they'd pepper through the book that were about the people in it (that weren't in the movie).

i liked *a certain character's* death a lot more in the movie compared to the book (it was just more dramatic in the movie, a hand-to-the-mouth moment the first time i watched it).

Just when you think you see where it's heading, the story does a complete 180 and you are heading off in a completely different direction. Really interesting, well written and intriguing story. There were certain parts of the book I just couldn't put it down and then others where I had to take a break as it was doing my head in. Only 3 stars as I wasn't really cheering for any of the main characters, I just had to keep reading to see how it ended...

I'm a bit late to the party, but wow, what a complete and total mindf--- of a story. Because the book has been around, I already knew that the ending was going to be a surprise, but I never anticipated the actual ending.

Well that was a fun ride. I feel a bit crazy after reading this book. It really is a psychological thriller. I got a lot out of the psychological part, a lot of it made me think about peoples personalities.... People pleasers, people who take charge, people who are mind game players, and so on. It really made me think about men... and are they really like the male character in this book?

Anyhow. The book was great, I loved all the twists and turns, I like how the book seemed very thought out and researched, very well written. I could have done without all the swearing but that also is a conversation in and of itself... Do people really think like that in their minds? Are they really that crude when no one can hear them?

The language is the only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars, yes yes I'm harsh, sue me.

Too much vulgarity and coarseness for my personal tastes. The mystery and surprises are unexpected but I wanted to take a shower after finishing. Not a book I would recommend for most readers.
