I wanted to like this one more, but oof. It wasn't the best.

-Too many POVs (6!! That's too many!)
-Confusing plot. I felt like there were too many things going on and that this could have been explored over multiple books
-Queer rep felt like it was just shoved in at the last minute and not at all fleshed out
-Poor character development which led me to being confused about which character's chapter I was reading until about halfway through the book

This was a good debut novel with a diverse set of characters and extra witchy vibes. The plot picked up as the book went on, and I raced through the last few chapters. I enjoyed the seamless inclusion of queer characters. Because there were so many POVs, some of the character development was rushed, and I especially would have liked more from Jailah. I originally thought this was a standalone though, so I look forward to how things progress in book 2!

This book definitely feels like a CW series, and I think it would have been more effective as a TV show. Great idea, but the execution was messy - way too many POVs as well as pacing issues.

This book has a stunning cover and that is what made me want to read this. I had a hard time connecting with the characters and their backstories

I was confused about the magic system and almost felt like I was missing something throughout the whole story.

I almost felt like there were too many POVs - it may have confused things a bit for me. I would consider this book for a younger audience I thought there was a bit too much cussing
that kind of threw me

The next book cover looks just as beautiful
