The premise of this book was great. After a mysterious incident happens one night, 4 friends don't speak again until they are invited to a weekend at a Safari lodge in Africa.  And some end up dead.  The setting pulled me in - an isolated lodge under a blazing sun with the possible of wild animals.  Add the lingering mystery of what happened to end the friendship, and I was ready to be sucked in.  Unfortunately, it didn't quite deliver, and ended up going off the rails a bit.  I would read another by Phoebe Morgan, but I wish another author had written this book as it seemed like a huge missed opportunity for a great thriller.

It wasn't the most heart pounding thriller, but was quite an entertaining ride nevertheless.

Absolute trash.

Again, I’m mad at myself for finishing it at all, instead of giving up when I realized the writing was bad and I didn’t care about any of the characters. But the author had been very heavy-handed in dropping “ you won’t BELIEVE what happened in the past!” hints, and I was curious.

Everything was over dramatic, unbelievable, over-explained, shoddily patched together. Also, despite the quick chapters and the fact that there’s lots of murder about to happen, it was still really boring?

Just ugh, all the way.

I knew I'd read this as soon as I saw Botswana in the synopsis. It failed to deliver in terms of the setting - I thought we'd get to experience Botswana a little more than we did. But I loved following this old group of friends come back together. It was obvious they had baggage and secrets and I was excited to unravel them. I wouldn't say the author nailed the ending, but it also wasn't bad. I enjoyed the read and would definitely read more by Morgan in the future.

This was a very good fun book. I was on the edge of my seat through the entire book, and the TWISTS!! Like a roller coaster.

I’m a sucker for a locked room murder mystery; this was constant suspense the whole way through. It felt like being hunted, and not in a bad way. I do wish that it had been more nuanced,
Spoiler like if we had delved more into Hannah’s grieving the loss of her child, or Alice’s domestic abuse, or Grace’s sexual assault, or any of what Felicity had dealt with.
The issues discussed felt very surface level, hence 4 instead of 5 stars.

Another Fantastic book again from Phoebe Morgan. Gripping from the start. Lots of secrets and twists. Highly recommend.
