Did not finish.
It is a fast read -- almost a novella -- and there was a lot of potential, but the author chose not to spend the time or research to write a full story, so it seems simplistic.

This was a quick and short read and it was tolerable to me. I did admire how Mata Hari had so much appeal and could outsmart men. This conveys sense in the typical Paulo Coelho way. I felt misfortune for Mata Hari, who was a victim of her surroundings, who tried to make a better life for herself, had no family or friends to support when she needed them the most. She did achieve and attain a lot of what she aspired of but then again liberation always comes with a fee. I felt the book was a little rushed and lacked a lot of descriptive parts to make this read a lot more whole.

4 stars, only because of the brilliant person the author wrote about. The writing style isn't even that good.

Poor Mata Hari, who died because of stupid white old men. :))

Wonderful prose. Sucked into Mata Hari'story from the start. Written mostly from her point of view in the from of a letter to her lawyer, you get to know a bit of her back history, how she came to be imprisoned & her state of mind.
