Fantastic collection of essays. The author does a great job delivering slices of his life through his equally-critical perspective. David Sedaris frequently points out (and reflect upon) the absurdity in his own life and anywhere he sees it in the world around him.
From his tobacco-filled childhood, to his linguistic misadventures in foreign countries, the book sometimes had me laughing so hard I had tears in my eye. Other times, the book had me thinking, "I know exactly how he feels!" I loved this book.

Who doesn't enjoy David Sedaris essays?! Great poolside read, as long as you're not self-conscious about laughing out loud in public!

Not only is David Sedaris hilarious, he is achingly honest. I so admire him for his willingness to tell a story truthfully, even when -- especially when -- he comes off as arrogant, clueless, mean-spirited or downright weird. He has clearly mastered the art of ignoring self-censorship for truth. Plus - and I can't say this enough - he is damn funny, and his life stories border on the absurd. This was a great book to listen to on my daily commute and had me laughing out loud.

Hilarious. No Me Talk Pretty but better than the last one. I laughed out loud at least 650 times.

When You Are Engulfed in Flames is a comedy essay collection/memoir . This collection was just okay to me. There were some genuinely funny moments in some of the stories, but for the most part I didn't find much of this book that funny. A lot of points this book came off as random ramblings I could care less about.
