Explains how time is a construct that we experience as separate from ourselves but thats not al2ys how time was seen. We don't have to live with a never ending to do list, we can live more in the moment.

I'd say it was overall a worthwhile read, and I might have to reread it because I missed some important bits.

As someone who really struggles with time management and is quite hard on myself about being unproductive, reading this book was a big relief. The author is a former “productivity geek” but instead of teaching techniques (that are doomed to never really work), he focuses on our relationship with the passing of time. The book has made me think about what it means to be “productive”, trying to step back from constant future-focus and accept that I’ll probably never get as much done as I want to, no one can, and that’s normal. I’m still processing the content and will probably re-read.

There’s some really nice exploration of attitudes towards rest across time and cultures. The only thing that wasn’t there that I would have liked was a more political critique of productivity narratives.

I absolutely loved this book. It's easy to read, full of wisdom from various sources, and the overall message is clear: you won't have time for everything, so better to accept that fact and work with it rather than live your life in a delusion. It's not a productivity book but more pop philosophy that engages with something close to my heart (fear of death). I recommend it to everyone.

More of a 2,5 rating. I appreciate what the author was trying to do throughout this book but I also felt that the focus of the book got lost midway through?

“We’ve been granted the mental capacities to make almost infinitely ambitious plans, yet practically no time at all to put them into action.”

“Convenience culture seduces us into imagining that we might find room for everything important by eliminating only life’s tedious tasks. But it’s a lie. You have to choose a few things, sacrifice everything else, and deal with the inevitable sense of loss that results.”

“One can waste years this way, systematically postponing precisely the things one cares about the most.”
