Finally, I understand what I can "afford" and how to write a budget. Phew!

This book should be mandatory reading in high school, and again in college in case you missed the message the first time. It lays out a path to financial freedom, where you don't have to worry about money all the time. It doesn't fit all situations, but it fits almost all, and gives you a guiding light that you can use to help steer towards where it does fit your life. I wish I had read this (and been smart enough to apply it to my life) years ago.

I wasn't taught money management growing up and was perpetually worried about it. Literally used to freak about checking my bank account but after reading this I have a pretty good idea of what I'm doing and that fear is completely gone. So, yeah, I'd recommend it -- especially for young adults just starting out but also for everyone else.

More than once while reading this book I was floored, "Do people really THINK that?!". But if I am honest, than my 18 year old self, while perhaps not having ever "thought" that, certainly did act that way. And my current 30 year old self still picked up some good information (What percentage of your income should be discretionary? What percentage should you put into paying your house off early?)

So even if you pick it up and roll your eyes at some of the stories or think their breakdowns are a little too simple, read it through and give it a chance. If I had taken this to heart a decade a ago, it would have made a real difference in my life today.

This book is my financial bible. There are a LOT of financial planning books out there to choose from, and many are legitimately good approaches to managing your money, but All Your Worth is unique in its ability to simplify your finances and make your path to financial stability clear and understandable.

I'm not sure there was anything in here I didn't already know, but reading this was very reassuring in that it validated the choices/strategies I have made around finances
