I loved how the writer included the movie in the book! Being able to see the movie as a book and reading all the details was incredible. I’ve watched the movie so many times that I saw it in my head as I read it. The sequel was amazing as well. I hope the second movie coming soon is like the book. Definitely a must read for those who love Hocus Pocus, Halloween, and magic.

Awesome. Too bad it's not going to be a movie.

There is little doubt in my mind that this is what would've come from a made for TV sequel, complete with a random song, cheesy dialogue and lessons learned. I would've preferred something a little more... like a theatrical release might've given. It was less edgy (not that the original was all that edgy) and more after-school-special-y. But it was still fun. And having those sappy things like Mary's song really helped make it feel as though it were a novelization like the first half of the book, instead of just a book sequel. The very last chapter made me happy.

I just can’t finish this. I was enjoying the written version of the movie in part 1, but since I’ve seen the movie, I thought I would just skip onto part 2. Way. Too. Millennial. For. My. Taste. So much millennialism! I can’t stand it. Using acronyms like BAMF (get creative with your minds, folks, it’s not hard to figure out) and titling a chapter “Serious Shade” just gives me a bad vibe. I get the point was to make the story line “match with the times,” but within the first 30 pages of part 2, all of the millennialism you could put in there was present and it was just too much. Plus, the characters seemed really cheesy. And, I just feel like Allison wouldn’t have grown up into an adult hating Halloween. She was super strong and courageous fighting the Sanderson sisters in the movie, that I just don’t see her avoiding Halloween and not wanting to talk about it at all. What is with that? And also, if Max and Allison never wanted to talk about the Sanderson sisters, why did they stay in Salem? That’s the hugest topic to discuss around Halloween. So everyone acting all surprised when the question was asked just seemed juvenile. I’m so disappointed in this. I was so looking forward to reliving the nostalgia of my childhood and instead I was faced with disappointment.

For me the best part about this book was ‘Part One’ which is the story of the Hocus Pocus movie.

While I was reading ‘Part One’ I was replaying the movie in my head and had a few giggles to myself about it - it was nice to read it instead of watch it again for the 92837292nd time 😂

The ‘Part Two’ was okay, it still had the witchy goodness of ‘Part One’ but it just seemed a little off for some reason. It didn’t sound as good although still enjoyable, I think maybe because I love the film and the first part reminds me of the film so much.

Enjoyable read though and definitely a fast read.

I absolutely loved the first half of the book. It was literally just the movie. But the second part was just ok. I do not love how they ended it. Why does everything have to be a never ending story these days?!
