This book was a delight. For fans of Broadway, Lin, ITH, and everything in between. So enjoyable and fun to read!

I’ve been in love with “In the Heights” for awhile now, so I bought this book to learn more about the history and creation of the musical. It did not disappoint. I feel like I have so much more respect and admiration for the musical and the movie, and Lin’s annotations were insightful and cute. It’s not a long read, so if you like the Broadway show and/or the movie, you should check it out.

About community and home, dreaming and legacy, this is as vibrant, joyous, and inspiring as the film (I haven’t seen the stage play). This tells readers about the 20+ year journey of In The Heights - the rejections, collaborations, inspirations, and adaptations. Loved learning the meaning behind the songs, Easter eggs, last minute changes. It all came together with so much love and passion. Cannot wait to see how this project inspires future creators.

It seems like it will be interesting, I'm just not in the mood to hear a story about how a man was able to achieve all his dreams.

Easy going down, could have been a bit shorter! Mostly here for the annotated lyrics :)

i really don't know what to rate this book so this may change later but whatever.

after reading hamilton: the revolution earlier this year and seeing the in the heights movie, i decided to get this book.

first of all, this book is GORGEOUS. the photos and illustrations in it, the overall aesthetic... it's incredible.

like the hamilton book, i most enjoyed reading lin's annotations of the song lyrics. it was quite interesting to see some of the inspiration behind them. i also loved quiara's essays. they were very insightful.

seeing how connected the in the heights cast members were to each other and the tight bonds they formed was super sweet and wholesome as well.

my main issue with this book was that i sometimes felt it was skipping some of the story, and you kind of had to fill in the blanks a little bit, but that wasn't too bad. also i just had trouble retaining all the information and forgot a ton of it, but that's purely my fault.

all in all though, this was a pretty educational and interesting read, and i'm glad i was able to pick it up.
