Re-tellings from stories, myths and History from Nigeria, Persia, Ghana, Mali, Senegal, Guinea, The Gambia, Southern Mauritiana, Lesotho, Egypt, China & Mesopotamia.

I loved every single one of the 13 stories. A few were better than others, but overall, all great!

Bolu also writes beautifully, and it was interesting noting in different stories her style at the same time as the narrative was different each time.

Lovely read!

I really tried with this book. So hard. Simply put, Bolu is regrettably, a bad writer. Not only are the actions of the characters totally unmotivated and don't make sense, but the writing is completely unnatural and forced. Great premise, executed poorly in the wrong hands. Not what I wanted, not what I needed, do not recommend.
