Well, it was certainly interesting. We've all seen many iterations in modern-day media of this story in particular; however, reading the original gives new appreciation. Character development (of Sherlock and Watson specifically) is rather scarce in this novella, but the format is different and fun. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle plays a bit with narrative voices to give the story depth. At times, I wasn't sure where things were going, but everything wrapped up quite nicely.

Re-read
I can see why people don't like the 2nd half but ngl I was just as invested as I was in the 1st half
Spoiler and it provides the needed backstory for the murderer
, although there are better stories later on in the series, I really love how it introduces Sherlock Holmes and Watson's relationship with him plus his making fun of Gregson and Lestrade is a funny highlight that isn't featured as much in the later ones
