I'm still on the search for a new "cozy" mystery series to sink my teeth into, but in the mean time, this is a good "Light and Fluffy" summer read for me. Although I liked this story well enough, I can't say the characters made all that much of an impression on me. Although I think a maid/private detective makes a perverse kind of sense. Maids see everything.

I'm having some ambivalent feelings about this story line. the plot seemed unnecessarily convoluted with several red herrings thrown in for good measure. When the killer was revealed it seemed very random, that was a bit of a turn off for me. I might read another book in this series, but I don't think I will be in any hurry. I really wish I could give this thing 2.5 stars. It's better than "ok" but I'm not really sure I'm ready to commit to as strong a word as "like."

Was very much getting into it when, in quick succession, the MC sat "Indian-style" and complained about being spoken to "like a field hand". NOPE.

I didn't really enjoy this Mary Kay Andrews book. It had a lot of characters introduced in a short period of time. The real estate/construction/zoning aspect was confusing to me b/c I know nothing about it. So some terms, that probably would have helped me understand better, I just didn't know. I found Callaghan annoying and the racism was offensive. It all just fell flat.

Every Crooked Nanny (Callahan Garrity Series #1) was a real treat – full of southern humor, sass and wit! Loving the new series mixed with a little mystery, detective work, cleaning business --- funny southern women from Atlanta (so right on). I lived in Atlanta most of my life until a few years ago, in Buckhead, Midtown, Peachtree Hills and off Paces Ferry in Vinings, so loved hearing all these mentions - Highlands and Little Five Points (always my favorite)!!! I was also a publisher for commercial real estate and former director of the North Fulton Chamber in Alpharetta, so enjoyed the real estate development tie in. I recommend buying the audio as (narrator had the southern draw down)…..as laughed the entire day while I was working online building a website and finished it in one day.
If you liked Janet Evanovich's Jersey Stephanie Plum and Lula - you will love this series (instead of Jersey accent you get sweet southern)with the same spunk and humor! Out to get their man!
Also loved the e-book “Killer Fudge” a short story prelude ----- Atlanta private investigator/cleaning business owner Callahan Garrity once again proves her ability to clean up a sticky mess. When the grandson of faithful House Mouse employee Ruby is charged with murdering an an elderly antique dealer, Callahan is called on to investigate. What she discovers is a recipe for homicide. Looking forward to the series!

Neva Jean, a house cleaner for House Mouse, a cleaning company got into a huge fight with Swantell , her boyfriend who dumped her in a Walmart in Macon with just her shoes & her book. Callahan who owns House Mouse wires Neva some money to get home as she has clients tomorrow morning.
I absolutely loved all this twists, turns & hilarity of this book. I can’t wait to dive into more of this series
