This was my first ever ARC and I was so excited to get it! I have been wanting to dive into sports romances and this just happened to be the first one. I am not a big fan of insta-love tropes, I just find them to be unbelievable. So I had a hard time connecting with Ryan and Jenna's relationship at the beginning. I did enjoy it more towards the end when I could see how much they cared for each other. This is also my first UK book so I was nervous that I would have a hard time with the slang but that was not an issue at all. I wanna praise the play by play hockey scenes in the book. They were described so well I could visualize them so clearly. I enjoyed the storylines for the secondary characters as well. I do think at times when there were several characters present it was hard to keep up and it got a bit chaotic. The book does end on a cliffhanger so I want to read the next book to see what happens next.

Thank you to the author for providing me with an ARC! This is my voluntary and honest review.

Arc review
First, let me congratulate you on your book debut! I’m so happy for you! Thank you for allowing me to ARC.
I stayed up super late enjoying every minute of this read! This was such an easy, light-weight read for me— a welcome difference from my usual anxiety ridden reads.
I really enjoyed how mature the main characters were and how they respected one another. I loved the example of how a healthy relationship should be. I also enjoyed learning about UK hockey. I’m going to have to catch a game sometime!
I am looking forward to the rest of the series; I have no doubt will be a hit!

"the more i look at her the more fucked i realise i am.

i was lucky enough to get a arc. unfortunately i have to say that I didn't like this book. it was really boring and the more i read the more i realized that nothing is going to change. there was no tension between the main characters and that made it quite awkward to read about. i was really close to doing this, but i ultimately decided against it.

i'm not sure i'll read the next one.

💌-thank you alys j. clarke for the arc in exchange for an honest review.

First of all, I would like to thank Alys J. Clarke, the author for allowing me to be an ARC reader for this book!

I enjoyed the import slot, I haven't read much hockey romance, so it was nice to finally pick another one up. I also like that this book was set in the UK (where the author is from) because it gave a different perspective to the typical NHL that we see here in America.

This book definitely felt perfect for hockey season, so be sure to check it out while you cozy up!

The Import Slot is now available for purchase!!

“Brunettes who get excited about my car are my type.”

‘The Import Slot is the first book in the Elite Hockey series. It follows Ryan Preston, the NHL star who has just agreed to play in the UK for one season, and new single Jenna Roberts, who’s best friend just so happens to play for Ryan’s new team.’

Can I start off by saying, congratulations Alys on your debut novel! You should be immensely proud of yourself!

Ryan was such a cutie from start to finish. He was unselfish, he tried to please everybody and he loved Jenna for who she was. He knew when she started to feel self-conscious without her even needing to say anything, and instantly told her how perfect she was.

Jenna has not had the easiest of times over the past few months; from her boyfriend breaking up with her, to losing her job and then ultimately having to give up her apartment. She was an overall great friend to everybody, especially Vicky.

Ryan & Jenna do have a very ‘insta-lovey’ connection. However they don’t act on it straight away and try to just be ‘friends’ at first, although they both cannot deny the connection they have!

I loved all of the side characters but I am going to need Bettsy’s book asap! He’s such an intriguing character and I cannot wait to read more!

This book includes:
-UK Hockey Romance
-Insta-love
-No 3rd Act Break-up

Thank you to Alys for the arc of this book.

Rated it 4.5 🌟

The Import Slot is a spicy hockey romance set in the UK about a hockey player from Canada who decides to take his twin brother’s spot in the UK when he asks him to.

The story follows Jenna and Ryan who meet when Ryan moves to the UK. It has a bit of an insta love, where the MMC falls first. Normally, insta love is not one of my favorite tropes, however, the author does a great job of building the tension and portraying the instant connection the have for one another.

I don’t normally read sports romances, but I absolutely loved this book! It has a great mix of love, hockey, spice, and a splash of found family. It’s the first book in a series, and throughout the book we get some glimpses of various side characters and their situations, including Ryan’s twin brother. Excited for the next book to come out and will definitely be continuing the series!

Highly recommend if you’re looking for a fun and spicy hockey romance series to get sucked into!
