Wow, just wow, Amazing.
This connected with my soul. I cried when the MC sobbed when the cute racoon girl assuring him that everything is going to be okay.

Finally, after Goblin Slayer, I found a light novel, I deeply loved!
Going to cherish the moments I spent with this series!

The way the author describes the perspective of Raphtalia made me feel a lot of emotions. She suffered a lot but still she was so strong. I loved her character. Meanwhile, Naofumi is a peculiar character due to his personality. He suffered a betrayal after trusting these new people who he met in this new world he was forced to be in. However, after meeting Raphtalia and many adventures more, you can see the development in his personality and even though he acts tough and cold, he is warm hearted. I really liked the story and the plot as well even though it’s not as impressive as in other stories, the way it is developed is how it catches your attention.

I'm reading a translated version of this online. I'm not sure if the sound effect thing is normal for light novels, but it's really weird. Also, Raphtalia at times would straight up speak in Japanese despite it being a translation. I'm not sure why the translator left it that way. It might have been the specific manner in which she was speaking that couldn't be properly conveyed otherwise, but it was a little off putting.

A lot of this is repeat for me because I started watching the anime before reading this. Overall, I super like the premise for this story. I also love the main character. I'll admit, I feel hypocritical saying that when I always give Sword Art Online such a hard time because Kirito is such an ass but everyone loves him. I'd argue that Naofumi has had to work a lot harder for people to like him. Also, the bar for Raphtalia to like him after being poorly treated as a slave is pretty low.

I really like how the light novel shows the Shield upgrades. I love skill trees. I almost wish this was a real game just so I could work hard to unlock them all. I'm super interested to see what all gets unlocked, especially since one of the big differences that is there already from the anime is that Naofumi doesn't have the two-headed dog shield.

I also like reading this volume because the reader was left more in the dark as to Raphtalia's sudden growth. It wasn't until Naofumi finally and truly saw her that we were made aware of her change in appearance.

I'm hoping that by reading the light novel, I'll be able to find out more in-depth how the "curse" works.

“Why did I have to get hit with an axe to defend people that ridiculed me?” Naofumi.

I think this manga is cute. It somehow resembles Re:Zero Kara Isekai Seikatsu wherein they are summoned to another dimension. Of course they are different in many aspects.

Naofumi learned his lesson: to not be too good to everyone, to not trust anyone that easily. The things that happened to him are such a mess but he worked it out. He learned from them and now working out his life for the better.

I think this will be good. Fingers crossed.

...raphtalia is so cute.

It's hard to rate this since I knew what would happen based on watching the anime and reading the manga. It was hard to get through some parts because of how much the main character suffers. Still gripping overall.
