I read this book because I'm in conversation with a JW, and though they claim they're Christian, JW's do not accept that Jesus is God. This book is a good overview of the Trinity. It is theologically sound, but not difficult to read at all. I'd recommend it to both Christians, to reaffirm their faith, and to non-Christians who are intrigued by the doctrine of the Trinity.

A book emphasising the deity of Jesus and the Trinity in general more than going into detail of who the Father and the Holy Spirit is. Scripturally rich and historically sound when it comes to proving the three persons one God - Trinity and the deity of Christ as shown in church history and in the original language of the Old and New Testament but lacking in emphasis and push on the Father and the Holy Spirit. I recommend this book to someone of another religion who lowers the person of Jesus and does not see who Jesus is, the second person of the trinity, fully God and fully man.

Many Christians live as if they are Binitarians, believing in only the Father and the Son, while relegating the Holy Spirit to some other category that gets put on the shelf. In truth, the doctrine of the Trinity is so vital to the core of Christian doctrine that we have no basis of salvation without it. As White shows, there are two major errors in today's Christian environment in terms of the Trinity. The first is to deny the Trinity, as the unitarians do, or secondly to corrupt the understanding the Trinity as many people, such as T.D. Jakes and others who call themselves Christians do. In both cases, they are outside the Christian faith.

This book is a good introduction to the topic, hits the major points, and gets your feet wet with some of the deeper theological aspects of the Trinity.

It was amazing. Filled with so much Scripture, Dr. White takes you along a journey of the Scriptures and history that by the end you just kept help but rejoice in the triune nature of God. It took a little while, but it was so worth it.

I've been interested in church history recently, and I keep coming back to the torturous struggle that Christianity had in clearly defining the Trinity. I was having a hard time understanding what the big deal was, so I looked up what some respected people said was the best book available about the Trinity, and it was this. I was not at all disappointed.

It was not quite what I expected: it reads more as a defense of the doctrine of the Trinity contrasted with the many misunderstandings/heresies around it. It seems like a systematic discussion of the doctrine (what I was expecting) only second to this primary role. However, having read the book, I think this is probably better. With a concept like this that's so hard to pin down precisely, it's often more helpful to define what it's not (a point he makes directly in the book), since what it IS is something beyond our ability to understand fully.

I think every Christian should read this book or something like it to make sure they have a good understanding of this vital topic. Despite being a very difficult subject and despite the book going into details of Greek verbs and such, it never felt dry or boring.
