Good book. Short read. But it is important to understand the context to truly appreciate the book.

so sad yet so wonderful. read this as a child and didn't even get that this book was pretty deep.

in my opinion, it represents the situation in a "certain country" very well. you fall in love with the characters, they're real people who you can relate to.

the fact that one of the characters did blackface ruins the book for me completely.
