Agatha Raisin reminds me a lot of Miss. Marple in that she is nosey and sometimes hard to like. I still find the case and other characters a bit fun so I will keep reading the series.

This is a reread for me, as I am trying to continue to the series. I did not enjoy it the second time around as much as the first. I think the characters from the series are much more likeable and take a away from the book versions.

I really want to like this series but I find Agatha to be miserable. Both in the series having her wanting to run back to the city and abandon her new life. At least she’s devoted to her cats in this book!
I didn’t guess who had done it, which is always good. It explores a lot of characters, many falling into very British characteristics. Not sure if I’ll continue on with the series or not, she really does annoy me, and in this episode James added to that annoyance, but there’s something to her that’s endearing.

I really want to like this series but can we please stop writing mature, independent, smart women who obsess over men who want nothing to do with them?

I liked it but the protagonist was a bit less funny in this volume and the story a bit less griping I feel.
