Want to pick this back up. I just got overwhelmed with reading too many books simultaneously and this one was low priority, so I'll come back to it.

It's okay. Reads fast, somewhat interesting sci-fi story, some plot holes, not very good ending.

Not the most original book, but well-paced and quite endearing. I think it would make a great action-comedy TV show, like Chuck (with which it bears more than a few similarities).

It's been a good long while since I've read the first book in a series, and wanted to read the sequel immediately. There's too much out there I want to read to focus on one series at a time, but Wesley Chu's The Lives of Tao makes me want to go out right now and buy the next book in the series. It was that good. Check it out.

Spoiler Aliens crashed on Earth while there were still dinosaurs and were able to survive by inhabiting host mammals. Their plan was to advance civilization enough that they could build a ship to go home. Along the way, they split into 2 factions and now try to kill each other.  When their host dies they just need to find another host to keep living so they have the wisdom of millions of years and inhabited most of the humans that changed history. Tao himself was in Ghengis Khan, and Chinese Emperor. Unfortunately, he is trapped and so his host kills himself so Tao could find a new host and as a last ditch effort find Roen. He is a mediocre IT guy who is overweight with no confidence.  They train him to be an agent .....  which takes a while.   He has a crush on Sonya, one of his trainers and with his new found confidence asks Jill out on a date.  They thwart the alien detector creation, but then Sonya has to die and her Alien goes into Jill!  Philosophical, Tao made mistakes with many of his hosts. They had the notion that a conqueror would then be able to bring peace but that never works.  Too bad it isn't real or humanity would at least have aliens to blame for all the wars and division through the millennium.

I liked the book. Generally a good ride, predictable at points, but kept me on the edge of my seat. And it's probably one of the funnier books I've ever read.
