Another wonderful book by Lisa See. I loved every minute of this book and I loved that we got so much historical info at the end as well.

A beautiful historical fiction about the importance on relationship between women. It's sad to say a lot of the overarching discussion about women's place in society or involvement in certain space are still on going today. I saw my message in the main protagonists and I feel a lot of women would too.

This was amazing. Yunxian’s story was incredibly gripping. The experiences she went through trying to learn and practice what she loved whilst also trying to live up to her duty as a wife though difficult at times, was remarkable. Her connections to the people around and her ability to persevere through the hardships with her beloved friend Meiling was so heartfelt. This whole book was like a movie in my head and I felt so connected to the characters. If you love women empowerment and need to remember what it means to be a woman, read this
