It’s crazy to think this took place during my parent’s childhoods. Reminds you that desegregation wasn’t that long ago. Story about a mother’s love and about flawed people. Well structured and composed. She’s a badass.

 I thought I was getting a story about busing in Boston. To my surprise, the narrative captivated me with the story of a mother who lost her teenage daughter.

Gosh this book is soooo good 
My favorite read I think of this year 
Based in Boston in 1974 during the cities school desegregation 
Such a meaningful read about a mothers determination and rage and love for her children

This was a fantastic mystery set against the real life backdrop of Boston's desegregation busing crisis and organized crime in 1974. Incredible characters that will stay with me and remarkable Boston history woven throughout, as well as landmarks for important scenes. This is a great example of a plot-driven novel with great character development. Also, Robin Miles' narration was outstanding, as always. I loved this and I can't wait for the series on Apple TV+ that is supposed to be coming.
