I feel like I've been waiting for Egan to get his happily ever after especially with Sofia. These two were the best as Sofia finally gave in and gave a relationship with Egan a chance. I loved seeing the "retired" guys from Hidden Justice come in and help save the day. A perfect addition to this series.

There's no denying that the men who used to be part of Hidden Justice were always ready and willing to go above and beyond for those who mattered most to them--particularly when it came to the women they loved. Egan has been patiently waiting for Sofia to open her heart to him, and once she was, he was all in. The feelings that he had for her were intense, and it was clear how devoted he was to her. As always, Melanie Moreland delivers the romance with a good amount of action and suspense. The former is as sweet as it is steamy, while the latter provides the kind of resolution that doesn't dilly-dally--a much appreciated change from others that tend to take forever. Overall, The Specialist proved to be a four-starred ending to this series.

Egan and Sofia’s story is a friends to lovers with a super swoony and protective hero.
I love that Egan has quite the intriguing past, he’s talented at many unusual things and it makes him such a unique and interesting character.
Sofia is likable, strong with vulnerabilities. She’s a great match for Egan.
Trouble from the past threatens the pair and the blossoming romance.
It’s a story that’s steamy, swoony and romantic with plenty of suspense.
I love the balance of romance and suspense, it hit all right notes for me.
I believe fans of the series will love how this story plays out and how well it closes out the series.
It’s well paced, very entertaining and satisfying.

Egan & Sofia’s story was well worth the wait. Their relationship is different than the others from Hidden Justice in that they were involved before any rescuing needed to take place.

I loved their banter and interactions. Sofia was very Leary in the beginning, not wanting to get hurt but also not able to deny her feelings.

This was a great series conclusion and I loved being able to catch up with everyone at the end.

We've been watching Egan dance around Sophia for several books now. It was instant love for him when he first met her, and he has spent the last few years building a close friendship with her. Sophia has experienced a lot of loss in her life and fears getting involved with anyone, but after an incident at work she decides to take a chance again and let Egan in.

Just as they are getting started with their relationship, Egan's past comes out to play havoc on him and what he is building with Sophia. This book has a lot of action and as the final book in the series it didn't disappoint. Egan is an intriguing Hero - incredibly capable, smart and able to deal with any threat, but is more of a quiet Alpha type then some of the previous men from the Hidden Justice worlds. I loved seeing how he was with Sophia, even before they become a couple, he is protective and caring and anticipating of her needs. What a great end to the series - sad to see it end since I enjoyed the series so much!

Loved this series! The Specialist is the fifth and final book in the Men of Hidden Justice series by Melanie Moreland. I loved the book and flew through the chapters, needing to finish it. The book grabbed my attention after reading the first page and had me on edge the entire time. There were so many twists and turns, intrigue, and action. We had met Egan and Sofia in previous books and saw the connection between them. I was so excited to finally get their story and kept hoping Sofia would risk it and give Egan a chance. And of course, I always love a reunion between the characters of a series. This was a series filled with intrigue and action but each book could be read as a stand-alone. Although I recommend reading them in order because once you start you will want to read them all.

I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Words cannot do this review justice. Readers have instantly fallen in love with all of the men in Hidden Justice and Evan's story is the perfect ending to the series. Loving Sofia is the easy part, keeping her safe from his horrid past is the one thing that may make or break their relationship before is has time to flourish. But in true Melanie Moreland fashion the reader is swept away on a journey of love, redemption and a future that will be bright if they can get through the danger that surrounds them. Rallying the troops and working together Sofia and Evan love knows no bounds and the reader comes away with another favorite couple. Melanie Moreland once again creates an epic love story.

Tropes:
Friends to lovers
Damsel in distress
Touch her and die

I thought this book was great! It felt kind of rushed in the beginning but it got better. There’s romance, danger, a rescue operation, special ops vibes.

Egan Vuple is a modern day renaissance man. He has an intriguing past that he has tried to leave behind while pursuing more civilian interests. He has been in love with his neighbor, ER doctor Sophia De Salvo for years. Sophia has tried to deny her attraction to Egan because she fears her own past will repeat itself. As the two finally give into their desires a cloud looms over them threatening it all.
These two have a history as friends, neighbors, and coworkers. Although they have both moved on from the Hidden Justice community, it helps to have a friend that understands. They are very cute together as Egan is a true romantic and Sophia learns to adapt to his caring nature. All the time they are getting acquainted with their new relationship status, the reader is left worried about the events yet to come. We know that there are people that want something specific from Egan and Sophia becomes the bargaining chip. The anticipation grows as the story continues and it seems that Egan is in an impossible situation but the return of all our Hidden Justice heroes gives hope for a peaceful future.
I liked the complexity of these characters especially, Egan. He is a man of many talents that is unafraid of what others may think of him. Sophia is a strong, smart woman that values her independence but not to the point of harming her relationship with Egan. I think that can be a hard balance to find at times. Melanie excels at creating tension within the story that is not based on the characters’ current actions and this story is a great example. I enjoyed the way this conflict was wrapped up and how we got a reunion of HJ. Now if Melaine will just tell us how to get to this self-sustaining island, maybe we can have a visit again.

Egan and Sophia's story was the perfect way to end the Men of Hidden Justice series, it simply had great and strong characters, and they matched in a very deep and emotional way with each other. Their story wasn't easy, Sophia's walls were as up as they could go, and Egan never gave up. I was very intrigued by Egan, so quiet yet his story was fantastic. I'm going to miss them all. The audiobook narrated by Maxin Mitchell and John Lane was very well done, it had good pacing and their voices matched the characters. I suggest you hear the audiobook for a very different experience.
