Let’s Eat Out Around The World Gluten Free and Allergy Free is an informative book designed to make the experience of eating out or abroad easier for those with special dietary needs.

In chapter one the two authors share their individual experiences – Kim Koeller as someone living with celiac disease and various intolerances followed by Robert La France’s point of view as someone working in the food service industry. The guidelines for ingredients and their preparation is explored, as is the approach to catering for special dietary needs – from the POV of both guests and restaurants. The book then moves on to specific types of cuisine including American, Chinese, French, Indian, Italian, Thai and Mexican. Listed are the key things to look out for when ordering, highlighting common problem ingredients found in each type of cuisine.

If you suffer from allergies or intolerance but travel often, there is also a section dedicated to eating at hotels, on cruise ships and airlines. Here there are lots of handy tips for making travel a less stressful experience. Included in this section are samples of ‘downloadable translation cards’ which are designed to help with any language barriers you may face whilst away from home.

The book not only shares solution ideas but also stresses how important it is to educate those in the food industry to make sure the dining out experience is the best it can possibly be for both restaurants and their customers. Let’s Eat Out Around The World is full of information and would be a great book to have around for reference.
