Felt that the start was a bit slow but it was good catching up with the characters. Loved the detective work throughout the story. Towards the end I could not put down. Really exciting read.

Loved it! Not for everyone, but I thought it was awesome. I read all 3 back to back. Very compelling.

Esperaba más de usted señor Larsson. Entiendo que haya querido darle un mayor desarrollo a Lisbeth pero no me gustó gran parte del libro

I enjoyed this installment of the trilogy quite a bit, although it did not have the same level of 'unputdownability' as The [b:Girl with the Dragon Tattoo|2429135|The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Millennium, #1)|Stieg Larsson|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1275608878s/2429135.jpg|1708725]. It was compelling, and I enjoyed learning more about Salander and the mysteries about her past, but it didn't hook me as hard as the central mystery of the first book did. There were also some cheesy plot points and coincidences that were kind of annoying.
However, all of the things I loved about the first book (feminist perspective, vigilante justice, the female characters, weird asides about social issues) carried over to this book as well.

BUT *spoiler* What is the deal with the breast implants? I really did not get what that was about. It didn't fit with her character for me, and seemed odd.

I have come to these books so, so late. In my younger days, I had a real tendency to be a contrarian - not liking something simply because it was popular or espousing the virtues of something simply because it was obscure. In my old age (of 33), I am less a contrarian, but the tendency is still somewhat present. When these books were published, they were all the rage and as such, I avoided them. I remember wanting to see what the fuss was about, but also not wanting to jump on the bandwagon. My loss. I'm just now finding out what the rest of the world has known for a decade: these books are awesome. Uncomfortable in their depiction and inclusion of violence against women, but awesome.
