We just finished this read aloud with Jackson, the 2nd of a 3 part series. Great life lessons about being the underdog and finding inner strength to lead without giving up one’s integrity. I also love that the author uses her writer’s voice as a platform to acknowledge big issues that our children can learn about, too. This one addresses extinction and why humans and other species need to care, but usually choose to go about with selfish motives. It’s a great series! The third doesn’t come out until 2020, so we have some time to pick up some other reads!

This is the perfect follow up to the first Endling book! Even more character development for all of your favorites as their adventure continues, but prepare yourself for an emotional ride.
I found myslef cheering aloud and brought to tears for all the right reasons. I cannot recommend this series enough!

Great continuation of the first book I the series. The characters are fleshed out even more, and the world feels a lot more interwoven than before. A really excellent book!!

I really enjoyed the first book in this series last fall. It took me a bit to get into it, but once I did, I found it hard to stop. This book the action starts right away and it was all I could do to keep up! Byx and her friends are trying to find an island that may, or may not have more dairnes on it.... all the while trying to escape from those who are trying to find them, in hopes of making sure Byx is the last of her species.
Applegate has created an amazing world, which I found I had to be very careful when reading to make sure I truly imagined and understood where that part of the story was taking place.
I feel like so much of the characterization took place in the first book so this one could truly be a plot driven story. It really was so hard to put down. The ending is certainly set up for another sequel. I haven't heard anything about it, but I'm ready for it now!
